How we got to Zelów.
I wanted to serve God, and like every young and newly converted person, to see the great and wonderful miracles of God. I went to study at Radość Baptist Theological Seminary in Warsaw, and then completed my pastorate, so to speak, and set sail into the open waters of ministry. I quickly realized I wasn’t an experienced sailor. In reality, I was an unsupervised young Christian, treated like an experienced leader and expected to be just as capable. This overwhelmed and overwhelmed the young man I was then. I left ministry and worked for thirteen years in corporations and international companies.
For three years, God prepared me and my family to return to ministry. He ignited a desire in my heart and revealed more and more needs in His Church. For two years, He slowly bent and changed my thinking and habits. He made me realize that everything I had done up to that point had been nothing more than preparation and had no other purpose. Only Christ matters, and so many live in ignorance – that was the key argument.
I then decided to talk to the man who is my spiritual leader and teacher – Marek Głodek. I told him about my burning desire and desire to return to ministry.
And so a year passed…
A year later, we met again, and I still knew it was time to end my life and my desires. Pastor Marek said that since nothing had changed, we would move forward.
And so over six months passed…
During our third conversation in February 2019, Pastor Marek told us a little about his trips to the church in Zelów, and I thought I wouldn’t want to go where so many bad things had happened.
And suddenly, in mid-March, Pastor Marek and I went to see the church in Zelów. We were very afraid of being thrown into the deep end of a tiny church, in a tiny town with huge problems and divisions that hadn’t healed. We asked God, and instead of answering Yes or No, He simply began to show us human hearts thirsting for healthy and regular learning. During my visit, 12 people came to preach, thirsting and needing Christ. We told God that we understood, and since that’s how He put it, we were ready.
We moved out of our house near Warsaw, sold it after many trials and tribulations so that we wouldn’t be burdened by any mortgage, and, having paid off all debts, moved into the church apartment in Zelów in the last days of August 2019. We did this with faith in God’s promises and His guidance. We knew that the church in Zelów couldn’t provide us with salaries, but our God is strong and faithful.
Today, I still picture Paul writing about himself, “Faithfulness is required of those who are given responsibility” (1 Corinthians 4:2). Since I have received grace according to Christ’s measure, and He will hold me accountable, what else can I do but what He leads me to do?
Please pray for us that we may never seek our own will and desires, but always rely on our Lord and God. We want to build ourselves on the foundation of Love, and God is love.
We thank Almighty God for you and your support. Thanks to you, our table is full and we lack nothing.
